BOYDS, Md. – Senior midfielder
Marcus Williams scored his third goal of the season, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team tied American 1-1 at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The Crusaders move to 4-9-4 on the season and 3-3-2 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles now stand 4-5-7 overall and 3-2-3 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After a scoreless first half, Dilane Zouantcha gave American a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 54th minute.
• Holy Cross responded in the 86th minute, when Williams headed in a cross from senior midfielder
Jonathan Klein, after junior defender
Julian Beban played the ball to Klein in the left corner.
• Neither team would score again, as the game ended in a tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Eagles finished the afternoon with a 12-11 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made three saves on the day.
• Williams now has 18 points on five goals and eight assists in his collegiate career.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when it plays host to Boston University in its regular season finale at 6 p.m.
