WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
Evan Jones scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team tied Boston University 1-1 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders now stand 4-9-5 overall and 3-3-3 in the Patriot League, while the Terriers move to 4-3-10 on the year and 4-1-4 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the first half, Jones gave Holy Cross the lead at the halfway point with a laser fired past the goalie in front of the net. He was assisted by junior forward
Ethan Gill and senior midfielder
Jonathan Klein.
• BU responded in the 38th minute with the equalizer netted by Alex Bonnington.
• Neither team would score again, as the game ended in a tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the night with a 15-11 advantage in shots while Terriers had the 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made three saves on the evening.
•Jones now has 63 points on 25 goals and 13 assists in his collegiate career.
NEXT UP:
• The 2024 season is now complete for the Crusaders.
• Holy Cross finished the year tied for sixth place in the conference, but lost out on the tiebreaker and was unable to secure one of the six bids to the Patriot League Tournament.
