HAMILTON, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Marcus Williams scored his second goal of the season, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Brown 2-1 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 2-7-3 on the year, while the Bears improve to 4-5-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Brown opened the scoring in the 31st minute, when Diego Elizalde scored on a long shot from 30 yards out.
• Holy Cross tied up the game in the 53rd minute, as Williams knocked in a rebound after a shot by junior defender
Julian Beban had been saved.
• But in the 89th minute, Mads Stistrup Petersen put home a pass from Jamin Gogo Peters from four yards out to give the Bears the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the night with a 20-8 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made two saves on the night.
• Williams now has 16 points on four goals and eight assists in his collegiate career.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, when it heads to Lafayette for a 6 p.m. game.
