Patrick Ling both won their singles matches, but the Holy Cross men's tennis team was defeated by Wagner 5-2 at the USTA National Tennis Center. The Crusaders fall to 1-1 on the season, while the Seahawks improve to 1-1 overall.
DOUBLES ACTION:
• Wagner swept the three matches to claim the doubles point.
SINGLES PLAY:
• At No. 1, De la Plaza downed Carlos Rodriguez Gonzalez 6-4, 6-4.
• Ling added a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Joshua Zhao at No. 5.
• But the Seahawks won the remaining singles matches, including two that were decided in third-set match tiebreakers.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Oct. 17, when it begins play at the ITA Northeast Regional in Cambridge, Mass.
