WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
Evan Jones scored the only goal of the night and senior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani posted his second straight shutout, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team defeated Army West Point 1-0 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 4-9-3 on the season and 3-3-1 in the Patriot League, while the Black Knights fall to 4-10-1 overall and 1-6-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the 22nd minute, Jones scored from 22 yards out above the top left side of the penalty box, after a shot by sophomore midfielder
Kevin Cull deflected off a defender.
• Both teams would have some good scoring chances the rest of the way, but were unable to find the net and Jones' goal held up as the game winner.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Army finished the game with a 13-7 advantage in shots, while Holy Cross held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Stephani totaled three saves on the night, and now has six shutouts in his collegiate career.
• Jones now has 61 points on 24 goals and 13 assists in his Crusader career, standing in sixth place on the school's all-time scoring list.
SENIOR DAY:
• Prior to the contest, 11 senior members of the program who will be concluding their collegiate careers at the end of the 2024 season were honored in a pregame ceremony.

LUKE DUNIVANT AWARD:
• At halftime, the 16th annual Luke Dunivant Award was presented to Coffey.
• The Dunivant Award was established in memory of former Holy Cross men's soccer player Luke Dunivant, Class of 1997, who passed away in 2008 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
• The award in presented annually to a member of the men's soccer team who, like Luke, has inspired others by displaying outstanding courage, commitment and sportsmanship during his career at Holy Cross.
