WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman midfielder
Thomas Mancuso tallied one goal and one assist, as the Holy Cross men's soccer team defeated Navy 3-0 at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 3-9-3 on the season and 2-3-1 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen fall to 3-6-4 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Junior forward
Ethan Gill opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, when he headed the ball in near the right post following a throw in by sophomore midfielder
Kevin Cull.
• Mancuso made the score 2-0 in the 81st minute, when he took a pass from senior forward
Evan Jones inside the box and scored from 10 yards out.
• Sophomore forward
James Ferraro added the final goal of the day in the 84th minute, with assists to senior midfielder
Jonathan Klein and Mancuso.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani recorded his first shutout of the year, while making a season-high six saves.
• The Crusaders finished the game with a 14-13 advantage in shots, while the Midshipmen held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Both Ferraro and Mancuso recorded the first goal of their collegiate careers.
