HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Trailing 5-2 early, Holy Cross rattled off four straight to take a 6-5 edge due to a junior Katie Russell ace. Lehigh got a block on the left side for the 13-11 edge. Russel's second ace of the set leveled the score 13-13. The Mountain Hawks scored three straight for the 17-14 margin. Holy Cross tied the set again on Lane's eighth kill, 21-21. Lehigh tallied the final four points for the 25-21 advantage.
  • Holy Cross took a 3-1 lead early in the second set. Lehigh produced seven in a row to jump in front 8-3 as the Crusaders used their first timeout. The Crusaders rallied getting a 10-6 scoring binge of their own to be behind by one, 14-13 as Lane accounted for four kills. Russell's third ace of the match deadlocked the set again at 17 all. From there, the Mountain Hawks out produced the Crusaders 8-3 for the 2-0 match lead.
  • Another Lane mash had the hosts ahead 3-2 in the third set. Holding an 11-8 margin, Lehigh tallied nine straight points to take a commanding 20-8 score. They won the set 25-10.
INSIDE THE BOX:
  • Eight of Lane's 15 kills came in the first set. She has 782 kills and needs nine more to pass Katie Snell (1999-2002, 790) for eighth all-time in program history.
