AMHERST, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Massachusetts 1-0 at Rudd Field. The Crusaders fall to 2-9-3 on the season, while the Minutemen improve to 7-3-4 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The only goal of the afternoon came in the 60th minute, when Matt Fordham headed in a corner kick by Johan Feilscher.
• Holy Cross had some good scoring chances of its own, but was unable to put any shots on goal as UMass pulled out the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Minutemen finished the game with an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper
Josh Tubbs made six saves on the day, tying for his second-highest total this season.
NEXT UP:
• The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20, when they play host to Navy at 1 p.m.
