WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's basketball senior guard
Bronagh Power-Cassidy scored a game-high 21 points as the Crusaders earned a 69-54 victory against Patriot League foe Bucknell in the conference opener Wednesday evening in the Hart Center Arena.
The win was the third straight for the Crusaders (7-5, 1-0 PL) and the setback was the fifth over the last six games for the Bison (3-9, 0-1 PL).
Power-Cassidy scored 11 of her 21 markers in the third quarter. She hit on 53.3 percent (8-of-15) of her shot attempts including three three-pointers, three assists and two steals.

Janelle Allen and sophomore
Kaitlyn Flanagan joined Power-Cassidy in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Allen had eight rebounds – six offensive and Flanagan matched a season-high with seven assists. It also marked the third game this season that Flanagan has had zero turnovers matching her entire total from her freshman campaign in 2022-23.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bucknell missed their first six shots of the game before jumping ahead 12-9 via a layup with 39 seconds left. Allen found senior Cara McCormack for a deuce which made it 12-11 through one.
- A Flanagan corner three-pointer opened up an 18-12 margin at the 6:54 mark. Back-to-back Bucknell threes leveled the score 18-18. Sophomore Meg Cahalan closed the quarter by drilling an elbow jumper for the 28-25 halftime lead for the Crusaders.
- A three-pointer by the guests pushed them ahead briefly 38-37 until Power-Cassidy found Flanagan for a jumper to jump back ahead midway through the third.
- With the game knotted 41-41 the Crusaders went on a 15-0 run spanning 3:59 of the third and fourth quarters capped off by a Flanagan corner triple to make it 56-41 with 8:42 left and gave them their biggest margin of the game.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- Holy Cross has started 6-0 at home for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
- The six turnovers were a season-low for the Crusaders.
- Sophomore Simone Foreman tallied a new career-high with five assists.
- Foreman gobbled up double-digit rebounds for the fifth time this season (game-high 11 boards).
- Flanagan has six career zero turnover games and the Crusaders are 6-0 in those contests.
- The Crusaders had 25 assists on 28 made baskets.
