Fifth-year linebacker Jacob Dobbs and junior running back Jordan Fuller have earned 2023 Academic All-America honors, as announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Dobbs is a first-team honoree, while Fuller earned a spot on the second team.

Dobbs becomes a first-time  Academic All-America honoree and is a two-time Academic All-District selection. He was the 2023 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree; he additionally was a finalist for the 2023 William V. Campbell trophy and the Doris Robinson Award. On the field, he is a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and four-time All-Patriot League honoree, and has earned All-America honors multiple times in his career. Dobbs finished his Holy Cross career with a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average as an economics and religious studies double major. 

Fuller earns Academic All-America honors for the first time, and is a two-time Academic All-District honoree and a two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree. As an economics major, Fuller owns a 3.67 grade-point average through the Fall 2023 semester. He became an All-America selection and two-time All-Patriot League honoree after earning first team honors this fall, rushing for over 1,000 yards and leading the nation in rushing touchdowns (18). 

This marks the first time since 1991 that Holy Cross has had two Academic All-America honorees in the same season. The Crusaders have now also had Academic All-America selections in back-to-back seasons, as Peter Oliver was honored in 2022. 

The title Academic All-American is reserved for student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their sport and in the classroom. Only a select group of student-athletes advance from Academic All-District submission status to the Academic All-America ballot. Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District recognition by current dues-paying CSC members, and must meet high academic and athletic standards.
