KINGSTON, R.I.— The Holy Cross track and field teams traveled to the University of Rhode Island (URI) for the Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20. The men competed against 13 other collegiate teams while the women took on 15.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior Kiley Ronan claimed first place in the 400m dash with a time of 57.76. 
• Junior Abby Hughes took fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:21.67. Sophomore Abby Granrath also competed in the event and ran a 2:23.29 for a seventh place finish.
• Sophomore Alex Lusby came in eighth in the 1000m with a time of 2:56.98.
• Sophomore Celia Kulis finished fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.92. Sophomore Ella Grey competed in the 60m hurdles preliminary round and came in sixth with a time of 9.07.
• Junior Molly O'Connor finished in third in the 200m dash with a time of 25.95 and seventh place in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.90.
• Senior Lindsay Marjanski took seventh in the high jump with a 1.60m mark just shy of her personal best.
• Junior Maura Switzer came in a shared second place with a 3.50m mark in the pole vault.
• Freshman Ava McIntyre earned fifth place with a 5.24m mark in the long jump, a personal best.
• Junior Jane Feeney finished in eighth place in the shot put with a 11.79m.
• The 4x400 relay team including Ronan, freshman Maeve O'Sullivan, junior Helene Cummings and junior Haley Murphy claimed second place with a time of 4:01.56.
• The 4x800 relay team including sophomore Fiona Doherty, A. Hughes, Granrath and Lusby took home first place with a time of 9:28.88.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Sophomore Liam Lyons claimed second place in the 800m run with a personal best of 1:53.99. Senior Rigoberto Alfonso and freshman Joseph Mahon also competed in the event. Alfonso came in fifth with a 1:56.28 time and Mahon followed closely behind Alfonso with a 1:57.49 time, a personal best, and sixth place finish.
• Freshman Tristan Miller took third in the 400m with a time of 51.65.
• Junior Kevin Yatsuhashi came in seventh in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.81.
• The men's 4x400 relay team consisting of Miller, freshman Luke Boothroyd, sophomore Quinlan Perry and senior Matthew Conway came in sixth with a time of 3:31.13.
• The 4x800 relay team including Alfonso, junior Stephen Joseph, Mahon and Lyons took home first place with a time of 7:57.38.

NEXT UP:

• The Holy Cross track and field teams will return to action at the UMass-Lowell Riverhawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The women will compete on Friday, Jan. 26 while the men take to the track on Saturday Jan. 27.
