WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team hosted Merrimack for a Hockey East Saturday night game. The Crusaders took a close 2-0 loss to the Warriors.

Holy Cross (5-14-2, 2-11-2 Hockey East) had a strong first period taking a total of 20 shots on goal to Merrimack's (7-13-2, 4-9-2 Hockey East) five. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. The Crusaders battled back in the third period but couldn't hit the back of the net for the Warriors to take the 2-0 win.

Sophomore goalie Brooke Loranger had a strong game making 26 saves in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Merrimack netted a goal at 9:49 in the second period and scored another at 14:22 on the powerplay.

UP NEXT: 

• The Crusaders return to action for a two game series with Providence on Friday Jan. 19 and Saturday Jan. 20. Puck drop is set for 6pm at Hart Center Rink and 2pm at the Schneider Area.
