WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Evan Jones scored the only goal of the night as the Holy Cross men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Massachusetts at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 2-4-2 overall with the win, while the Minutemen fall to 3-3-2 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was scoreless until the 86th minute, when Jones finally broke a scoreless tie.
• The play began when junior midfielder
Liam Coffey stole the ball near midfield, before playing it to junior midfielder
Jonathan Klein in the left corner.
• Klein then passed to Jones, who dribbled toward the center of the field before firing a rocket from 25 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Junior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made four saves while picking up his second shutout of the season.
• The Crusaders finished the game with a 13-12 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
• In 45 career games played, Jones now has 15 goals and nine assists for 39 points.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, when it travels to Army West Point for a 2 p.m. game.
