KINGSTON, R.I. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Rhode Island 1-0 at the Rhode Island Soccer Complex. The Crusaders fall to 1-4-1 on the year, while the Rams improve to 2-1-2 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The only goal of the night came in the eighth minute when Ivan Montoro found the net for Rhode Island.
• Montoro stole the ball near midfield before scoring on a long shot from 40 yards out.
• Neither team would score again as the Rams held on for the narrow victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Rhode Island finished the game with a 14-3 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
• Junior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made four saves on the night.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 16, when it plays host to American in its Patriot League opener at 1 p.m.
