STORRS, Conn. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Connecticut 4-0 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 0-1-1 overall, while the Huskies start the year at 1-0-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UConn opened the scoring in the 19th minute on a goal by Eli Conway.
• The Huskies increased their lead to 2-0 less than 30 seconds later when Adil Iggoute found the net.
• Scott Testori added a goal in the 43rd minute to put UConn up 3-0 at halftime.
• Pierce Bateson concluded the scoring for the Huskies with a goal in the 65th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• UConn finished the night with a 19-3 advantage in shots, while both teams took four corner kicks.
• Junior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made three saves for the Crusaders, with junior goalkeeper
Josh Tubbs adding two saves.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, Sept. 1, when it plays host to Sacred Heart at 6 p.m.
