ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Holy Cross baseball team couldn't get past Navy in Patriot League action on Sunday, April 9, falling by a score of 5-3.

LeMond (4.0 IP, no runs, one hit, one strikeout)
Navy (17-16, 10-5 PL):

Rausch (2-for-3, stolen base, RBI, run scored)
THE DECISION:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Navy struck first in the bottom of the first inning, with center fielder Nick Burch hitting a one-out solo homer for a 1-0 lead.
- That advantage grew to 3-0 for the Midshipmen in the third inning after an RBI single and throwing error.
- Holy Cross got on the board after freshman right fielder Jack Toomey hit a one-out double in the fourth and scored on a base hit by junior third baseman Jake McElroy.
- However, Navy responded immediately with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 5-1 game.
- Senior first baseman Chris Benton doubled to lead off the fifth, and the Crusaders loaded the bases with one out after a walk and a hit batter. Sophomore designated hitter Sean Scanlon then singled through the right side to score a pair of runs and bring Holy Cross within 5-3. However, the Crusaders could not rally further.
DUE UP:
- Holy Cross heads to Stonehill for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, April 11.
- First pitch in Easton, Mass. is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
