- Navy tied up the game in the bottom of the third after an RBI groundout.
- The game was deadlocked until the bottom of the fifth, when back-to-back RBI singles by the Midshipmen made it a 3-1 game.

Toomey (1-for-3, double, RBI, run scored)

THE DECISION:

L: Walters (1-2)
S: Kruer (7)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders built a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Sophomore left fielder Connor Cooney led off with a single, then stole second and third; he scored on a wild pitch. After sophomore designated hitter Sean Scanlon walked, he would later be driven in by a double down the right-field line by freshman right fielder Jack Toomey.
- Toomey walked to lead off the fourth inning, and advanced to second on a failed pickoff before advancing to third on a single by junior third baseman Jake McElroy. A bunt single by Egrie scored Toomey, making it a 3-0 game.
- Navy quickly evened up the score with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- Holy Cross briefly regained the lead in the top of the fifth, with Scanlon driving in Cooney with a single to center. That lead would be short-lived, though, with a sac fly and RBI single in the bottom of the fifth putting the Midshipmen ahead, 5-4.
- Navy tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.
- The Crusaders had two runners on with just one out in the ninth, and runners on the corners with two outs, but the ninth-inning rally fell short.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders and Midshipmen round out the season series with a contest at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.
