WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Lauren Drillock totaled eight points on six goals and two assists, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Lehigh 17-15 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders fall to 6-10 on the season and 3-5 in the Patriot League, while the Mountain Hawks improve to 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
Senior
Christine Fabrizi added three goals for Holy Cross, while senior
Henna Brennan tallied two goals and two assists. Lehigh was led by Olivia Memeger with four goals and three assists.
The Mountain Hawks began the day by scoring eight of the first 10 goals to go up 8-2 with 10:26 left in the second quarter. Lehigh was later up by eight goals (13-5) with 9:13 remaining in the third quarter, when the Crusaders ran off six straight goals, including two from Brennan, to get back into the game (13-11). The Mountain Hawks were still up by two (15-13) with six minutes to go, before netting a pair of goals to go in front by four (17-13). Holy Cross responded with two more goals of its own, but could get no closer as Lehigh held on for the win.
The Crusaders will return to action on Thursday, April 27, when they travel to Bucknell for a 4:00 p.m. game.
SENIOR DAY
• Prior to the contest, seven senior members of the Holy Cross women's lacrosse program who will be graduating next month were honored in a pregame ceremony.
