ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior
Lauren Drillock scored five goals, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 23 Navy 22-9 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 5-9 on the season and 2-4 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen improve to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
The game was close early on, and Navy held a narrow 5-4 lead with 7:11 remaining in the second quarter. The Midshipmen then scored the final six goals of the second quarter to take an 11-4 halftime lead, and increased their advantage to nine (13-4) early in the third quarter. Holy Cross would get no closer than eight the rest of the way, before Navy eventually pulled away for a 13-goal victory.
Holy Cross will return to action on Wednesday, April 19, when it plays host to Colgate at 6 p.m.
