CARY, N.C. – The Holy Cross baseball team fell to Penn State, 15-2, on Monday, March 6 at the USA Baseball Complex.

THE DECISION:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Penn State got out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Nittany Lions used a six-run third, with a grand slam and two-run homer, to extend the lead to 9-0.
- An RBI double in the fourth inning pushed the Penn State advantage to 10-0.
- The Crusaders got on the board in the fifth inning. Junior catcher Patrick Casserly and sophomore third baseman Connor Peek hit back-to-back singles, and came home after sophomore designated hitter Sean Scanlon drove them in with a double.
- Holy Cross was unable to muster more runs over the remainder of the game, and Penn State used a five-run eighth to build its 15-2 lead.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Scanlon has posted four consecutive multi-RBI games and is on a seven-game hitting streak.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders travel to Charleston, S.C., for a game against Charleston Southern on Tuesday, March 7.
- First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
