WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore
Sally Zinsner tallied three goals and one assist to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to an 11-5 victory over Long Island at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders improve to 3-3 on the season with the win, while the Sharks fall to 2-5 overall.
Junior
Tori Cini made eight saves in the game while allowing just five goals. The Holy Cross defense forced 19 turnovers on the afternoon, and the five goals allowed were its fewest in a single game this year.
The game was tied at 2-2 in the first quarter, before the Crusaders scored the next three goals to pull in front. After leading 5-3 at halftime, Holy Cross ran off five straight goals to take a commanding 10-3 advantage with 5:06 left to play. Zinsner recorded two goals and an assist during that spurt. The Sharks then added two late goals, before freshman
Tory Rider scored the final goal of the day to give the Crusaders an 11-5 win.
Junior
Lauren Drillock finished the afternoon with two goals and two assists, while senior
Christine Fabrizi added two goals. In addition, senior
Henna Brennan and Rider both finished with one goal and one assist. Long Island was led by Rachel Weber with two goals.
Holy Cross will return to action on Wednesday, March 8, when it plays host to Quinnipiac at 4 p.m.
