WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 18 Army West Point, 13-6, in Patriot League action Sunday afternoon at Kuzniewski Field.
Freshman midfielder
William Stahl led the way for the Crusders (0-6, 0-1 PL) with two goals, the first two of his collegiate career. Seniors
Dean DiNanno and
Thomas McIntire, and sophomore
Henry Sheehan each recorded a goal and an assist. Sophomore
John Mitchell also added a goal on the afternoon.
Junior
Dawson Friers recorded 18 saves on the afternoon. The faceoff contingent of junior
Connor DePiero and freshman
Jordan Naso combined to go 8-23 at the X.
Army (4-1, 1-0 PL) was led by Evan Plunkett, who recorded seven points (3-4-7), while Jacob Morin added give goals. Netminders Knox Dent, Evan Richardson, and Matt Chess combined for eight saves in the win.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the first quarter before the Black Knights took a 6-3 lead into the halftime break. Army was unstoppable in the second half, outscoring Holy Cross 7-3 in the final 30 minutes.
Holy Cross will close out their homestand next Saturday, March 11, hosting Patriot League opponent Lehigh at 2 p.m.
