WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Lehigh, 17-11, in Patriot League action Saturday afternoon at Kuzniewski Field.
Senior
Thomas McIntire led the way for the Crusaders (0-7, 0-2 PL) with six goals, a career high. His hat trick in the first half marked his fifth game recording three goals or more this season. Senior
Dean DiNanno recorded a hat trick as well, his first of the season.
Senior
T.J. Lynch added a goal and an assist on the afternoon, while sophomore
Henry Sheehan and freshman
Tyler Marmo recorded an assist each. Sophomore
Calahan McPherson picked up his first collegiate goal in the contest.
Junior
Dawson Friers recorded 16 saves on the afternoon. Junior
Connor DePiero led the way at the X, finishing 8-14.
Lehigh (5-1, 2-0 PL) was led by Scott Cole and Justin Tiernan who recorded five points each. Netminders Nick Pecora and Caleb Creasor combined for nine saves in the win.
The Crusaders battled back from a 5-1 deficit halfway through the first quarter, rattling off four straight goals to tie the game at 5-5 halfway through the second. Lehigh took the lead back before the end of the half, bringing an 8-5 lead into the halftime break. The Mountain Hawks outscored the Crusaders 10-6 in the final 30 minutes to cement their 18-11 win.
Holy Cross will head to Turnpike Trophy rival Boston University for their next Patriot League matchup on Saturday, March 18. Game time is set for 1 p.m., and will stream live on ESPN+.
