Crusaders take down Boston University 17-13

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Jenna Giardina totaled four points on three goals and one assist, as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team defeated Boston University 17-13 at Nickerson Field. The Crusaders improve to 4-7 on the season and 1-2 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Terriers fall to 6-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Senior Henna Brennan scored three goals on the day, while sophomore Isabela Miller dished up a career-high five assists. Junior Lauren Drillock added two goals and one assist, while sophomore Ella Kittredge, freshman Tory Rider and senior Charlotte Wittstock had two goals each. Boston University was led by Jayne Feeney with four goals.

The Terriers opened the game with an early 2-1 lead after the first five minutes of play, before Holy Cross scored 13 unanswered goals to take a commanding 14-2 halftime lead. Giardina netted all three of her goals during that run, while Brennan and Kittredge had two goals apiece. The Crusaders' lead would stay in double-figures until the fourth quarter, before Boston University scored the final six goals of the day to make the final score look respectable.

Freshman Mackenzie Creagh made a career-best 14 saves on the day, while picking up her first victory of the season.

Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday, April 1, when it travels to No. 9 Loyola (Md.) for a 12 p.m. game.
