WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Jenna Giardina scored a career-high six goals, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Harvard 15-12 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders fall to 3-5 on the season, while the Crimson improve to 1-4 overall.

Sophomore Sally Zinsner finished with three goals on the day, while junior Lauren Drillock added two goals and two assists. Harvard was led by Riley Campbell and Callie Hem with four goals each.

Neither team led by more than two goals for the majority of the game, and the score was tied at 8-8 with 8:20 remaining in the third quarter. The Crimson scored the next three goals to go up 11-8, before Holy Cross came back with three straight goals of its own to tie the game at 11-11 with 12:37 left to play. But Harvard went on to outscore the Crusaders 4-1 down the stretch to pull out a three-goal victory.

Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday, March 18, when it plays host to Army West Point in its Patriot League opener at 1:00 p.m.

HEADstrong Awareness Game: 
• During the Harvard game, Holy Cross is teaming up with the HEADstrong Foundation to spread awareness of and support the foundation's mission to offer financial, residential and emotional support to families affected by cancer. 
• The Crusaders are playing in memory of Jill Reppert, the wife of men's lacrosse head coach J.L. Reppert, who lost her battle with cancer in 2022. 
• Holy Cross will be wearing green HEADstrong shoelaces for the games, in addition to taking part in Game Hair Havoc.
