WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore
Sally Zinsner recorded a career-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 19-11 victory over Stonehill at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders improve to 2-2 on the season with the win, while the Skyhawks fall to 0-3 overall.
Sophomore
Ella Kittredge scored a career-best four goals for Holy Cross, while senior
Jenna Giardina added four points on three goals and one assist. Stonehill was led by Kayla Conway with three goals.
The Crusaders held an early 3-2 lead late in the first quarter, before sophomore
Isabela Miller and Kittredge scored less than a minute apart to make the score 5-2. After the Skyhawks scored the opening goal of the second quarter to trim the margin to two (5-3), Holy Cross ran off seven straight goals to take a commanding 12-3 advantage. Zinsner scored three of her goals during that spurt. The Crusaders eventually led 12-5 at halftime.
Holy Cross was still up by seven (14-7) midway through the third quarter, when Stonehill scored four of the next five goals to make the score 15-11 with 9:13 left to play. But the Crusaders would not allow the Skyhawks to score again, while adding four more goals of their own to finish off the win.
Junior
Tori Cini earned the win in goal, making nine saves on the day. Sarah Faley had six saves for Stonehill.
Holy Cross will return to action on Wednesday, March 1, when it plays host to Massachusetts at 5:30 p.m.
