WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team was shutout by Canisius, 3-0, in Atlantic Hockey Association action Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.

Holy Cross drops to 13-17-3 (12-11-2 AHA), while the Golden Griffins improve to 14-16-3 (12-10-3 AHA).

THE GOALTENDERS:
- Crusaders: sophomore Thomas Gale – 3-10-2, 21 saves, .913 save percentage.
- Golden Griffins: Jacob Barczewski – 11-12-1, 33 saves, 1.000 save percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams played even for the first twenty minutes. Canisius just barely out-shot Holy Cross, 9-7, in the frame. The Crusaders killed off the lone penalty of the period.
- Canisius opened the second period with a goal just under five minutes into the frame. They would add a second goal with just under two minutes remaining.
- The Golden Griffins secured the win with an empty net strike with 1:37 remaining in the third period.

BEYOND THE BOX:
- The Crusaders penalty kill held the Golden Griffins to 0-5 on the man-up advantage with one shot.
- Holy Cross out-shot Canisius 17-6 in the second period.Â
- Junior Jack Ricketts tied his season high in blocked shots with two.
- With one game left to play, Canisius moves up to the fourth spot in the AHA standings, while bumping the Crusaders to sixth.

UP NEXT:
- The two teams will meet again tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m at the Hart Center Rink.
- The game will be broadcast on NESN+.
- Saturday's matchup will also serve as senior night for the Crusders, with fourth-year students Grayson Constable, Nick Hale, Jackson MacNab, Alex Peterson, and Bobby Young all being recognized in a pre-game ceremony.Â
