SAVANNAH, Ga. – Sophomore
Owen Egan of the Holy Cross men's golf team recorded a hole-in-one as the Holy Cross men's golf team used a solid final round performance en route to a seventh place finish at the Savannah Intercollegiate.
Egan, who had an
albatross during a round in the fall needed only one stroke on the par-3, 200-yard 17th hole at The Club at Savannah Harbor for the hole-in-one.
Egan's 71 (-1) third and final round was crucial for the Crusaders as they fired a tournament best total round 291 (+3) which resulted in a seventh place showing. Senior
Christian Emmerich (72, E), freshman
Brian Glennon (74, +2) and sophomore
Nolan Schuermann (74, +2) all had their best scores during the third round.
Freshman
Matthew Williams was the best golfer of the tournament for Holy Cross he totaled a 219 (+3) which tied for 14th place on the individual leaderboard.
COACH'S CORNER:
"Leading up to the Savannah Invitational the entire team had the best practice sessions on the indoor playing field in the Luth Athletic Complex during my time at Holy Cross" said Director of Golf
Steve Napoli. "I had informed the team that I felt we were prepared to compete and it really showed throughout the tournament. This really was a team effort and a great start to our spring season."
