SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior
Lauren Drillock tallied a career-high eight points on six goals and two assists, to lead the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team to a 20-14 victory over Bryant at Beirne Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 1-1 on the season with the win, while the Bulldogs begin the year at 0-1.
Senior
Henna Brennan and sophomore
Ella Kittredge both had three goals and one assist on the day, while sophomore
Isabela Miller added one goal and a career-best four assists. Bryant was led by Kenna Kaut with five goals and one assist.
Holy Cross never trailed in the first half and led by as many as two goals, but the game was tied at 9-9 leading into halftime. The Crusaders then scored five straight goals to open the third quarter, including a pair of goals from Drillock, to go in front 14-9. Holy Cross was still up by five (16-11) early in the fourth quarter, when the Bulldogs scored three straight goals to trim the deficit to two (16-14) with 8:40 left to play. But the Crusaders came back to score the final four goals of the day and pull away for a six-goal victory.
Junior
Tori Cini made eight saves while recording the first victory of her collegiate career. Sam Centofante and Ashlyn Watkins combined to make seven saves for Bryant.
Holy Cross will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 19, when it travels to UMass Lowell for a 1 p.m. game.
