FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team fell to Fairfield University, 13-10, on Saturday afternoon at Rafferty Stadium.
Sophomore midfielder
Ella Kittredge led the way for the Crusaders (0-1, 0-0 PL) with four points on three goals and an assist, followed by senior
Christine Fabrizi, who netted three goals in the effort. Junior netminder
Tori Cini recorded 11 saves on the day.
Fairfield (1-0, 0-0 MAAC) was led by Ellie Grefenstette, who recorded five points (3-2-5), and Libby Rowe, who also recorded five points on one goal and four assists. Goalkeeper Casey Collins made nine saves in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kittredge scored the first goal of the season for the Crusaders, assisted by sophomore Isabela Miller.
- Fairfield then went on three-goal run before Miller netted her first of the season, assisted by Kittredge.
- Fairfield scored three more goals before the end of the quarter to close the frame at 6-2.
- Fabrizi opened the second quarter with an unassisted goal before Fairfield scored three over two minutes.
- Fabrizi picked up her second of the game with 2:26 remaining in the half. Fairfield scored one more to enter the halftime break up 10-4.
- Fairfield scored the first goal of the second half before the Crusaders went on a four-goal run thanks in part to unassisted strikes by junior Lauren Drillock, Fabrizi, sophomore Sally Zinsner, and Miller. Kittredge then went goal-for-goal with Fairfield, answering their two goals with two of her own over the last seven minutes.

- Holy Cross will stay on the road, traveling to Bryant University on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
