WALTHAM, Mass. – Men's ice hockey completed its weekend sweep of Bentley, shutting out the Falcons, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Bentley Arena.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The two teams played even in the first period, with Bentley (6-6-0. 4-4-0 AHA) holding a dominant lead in shots, 11-3.
• The teams traded power play opportunities through the second period before junior Liam McLinskey netted a power play goal to break the scoreless tie and give the Crusaders (6-5-2, 3-5-2 AHA) the 1-0 lead. Senior Jack Ricketts won the offensive zone faceoff back to McLinskey who sent the one timer into the back of the net for the score.
• The Crusaders extended their lead to 2-0 with 4:08 remaining in the third period with an even strength goal by freshman Ty Gagno. Junior Matt Shatsky sent a stretch pass up the ice, finding junior Michael Hodge, who carried the puck into the offensive zone. Hodge sent a drop pass to the trailing Gagno who pulled the puck around the defender before unleashing a wrist shot past the Falcons' netminder.

 
BEYOND THE BOX:

• Gale recorded 29 saves in his third shutout of his collegiate career.
• This is the first time in program history that the team has pitched back-to-back shutouts.
• The Crusaders blocked 11 shots in the game, while the Falcons' blocked six.

 
UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will return home to the Hart Center Rink to face Army on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
