ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior forward Caleb Kenney scored 11 points, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Winthrop 89-51 in the Rock Hill Invitational at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center. The Crusaders fall to 1-3 overall, while the Eagles improve to 2-2 on the year.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Winthrop started the game hot, jumping out to a quick 10-1 lead after the first four minutes of play.
• Holy Cross responded with a 9-1 run to make it a one-point game, and was later down by just three (21-18) with 8:22 left before halftime.
• The Eagles then closed out the half with a 21-4 spurt to take a 20-point advantage (42-22) into the locker room.
• The Crusaders would get no closer than 19 points in the second half, with Winthrop eventually pulling away to win by 38.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Holy Cross made just 32.7 percent of its field goal attempts and 16.0 percent of its three-pointers on the night. 
• The Eagles connected on 53.7 percent of their shots from the floor and 53.8 percent of their attempts from three-point range, in addition to holding a 38-26 rebounding advantage.
• Noah Van Bibber led Winthrop with 22 points and three rebounds.

• Holy Cross will continue play in the Rock Hill Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 18, when it faces Elon at 7:30 p.m.
