Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's ice hockey falls short against AIC

WORCESTER, Mass. – Men's ice hockey fell to AIC, 3-2, on Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC (4-5-0, 3-1-0 Atlantic Hockey) got on the board first at the 12:27 mark of the first period. The Yellowjackets extended their lead to 2-0 with a power play goal two minutes later.
  • The Crusaders (4-5-2, 1-5-2 Atlantic Hockey) picked up their first score of the night 7:17 into the second period on a strike by junior Liam McLinskey. Sophomore Mack Oliphant forced a turnover in the defensive zone, sending a stretch pass to McLinskey down the ice. McLinskey dropped the puck back to senior Tyler Ghirardosi. Ghirardosi drew the defender to him before sending a pass to an open McLinskey on the post who blasted the puck past the AIC netminder.
  • Senior Jack Robilotti tied the game at two with 1:13 remaining in the second period. Senior Jack Ricketts won the offensive zone faceoff, snapping the puck back to Robilotti, who unleashed a wrist shot that made its way past the goaltender.
  • AIC retook the lead with a power play goal with 31 seconds remaining in the second period.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Gale recorded 20 saves in the contest.
  • Holy Cross held the slight edge in faceoffs, going 36-35 at the dot. Ricketts led the way with 15 wins, followed by freshman Ty Gagno with 12.
  • The Crusaders outshot the Yellowjackets, 39-23.
  • Ricketts recorded his AHA leading 12th point of the season with his assist tonight.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will host Bentley in an AHA matchup on Friday, November 17 at 7 p.m. in Worcester.
