WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Loyola (Md.) 2-0 at the Ridley Athletic Complex. The Crusaders fall to 4-7-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the Patriot League, while Greyhounds improve to 4-1-7 on the year and 4-0-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was scoreless until the 33rd minute, when Jordy Luchies put Loyola in front on a penalty kick.
• In the 87th minute, Charlie Herley broke behind the defense and scored on a long shot from 25 yards out to conclude the scoring for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Junior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made three saves for Holy Cross, while Dylan Van der Walt had one save for Loyola.
• Loyola finished the game with a 13-7 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, when it plays host to Bucknell at 12 p.m.
