WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior midfielder
Jonathan Klein scored with less than two minutes remaining to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Holy Cross men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Bucknell at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 5-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Patriot league, while the Bison fall to 1-9-2 on the year and 0-5-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was scoreless until the 77th minute, when sophomore forward
Ethan Gill gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.
• Junior midfielder
Liam Coffey stole the ball in the defensive half of the field, before playing a long pass ahead to Gill behind the defense.
• Gill dribbled into the penalty box, before stopping and putting the ball just inside the right post from 14 yards out.
• Bucknell responded less than a minute later when Zane Domsohn scored off a pass from Jack Roberto.
• In the 89th minute, Gill deflected a pass by a Bucknell defender into the penalty, where junior forward
Evan Jones played it to Klein.
• Klein then one-timed the ball just inside the left post from 12 yards out.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Junior goalkeeper
Tristan Stephani made four saves for Holy Cross, while Jake Nicoli had four saves for the Bison.
• The Crusaders finished the game with a 16-6 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
SENIOR DAY:
• Prior to the contest, four senior members of the Holy Cross men's soccer program who will be concluding their collegiate careers at the end of the 2023 season were honored in a pregame ceremony.

Will Miller.
LUKE DUNIVANT AWARD:
• At halftime, the 15th annual Luke Dunivant Award was presented to McGonigle.
• The Dunivant Award was established in memory of former Holy Cross men's soccer player Luke Dunivant, Class of 1997, who passed away in 2008 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
• The award is presented annually to a member of the men's soccer team who, like Luke, has inspired others by displaying outstanding courage, commitment and sportsmanship during his career at Holy Cross.
