WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Holy Cross volleyball team was dispatched 3-0 by Patriot League opponent Army West Point on Sunday afternoon in the Gillis Field House.

The loss was the 18th overall for the Crusaders and 12th in league play. The host Black Knights move to 13-9, 10-3 PL.

SET SCORES:

• Black Knights 3, Crusaders 0 (21-25, 15-25, 15-25)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Army led 4-0 early before sophomore Gracie Reisman's first kill put the Crusaders behind 5-2. Trailing 6-2, four in a row by Holy Cross leveled the set at 6-6. Junior Lauren Halverson converted two straight kills combined with a freshman Emma Halstead ace and a senior Sanaea Simmons and sophomore Rachel Johnson block put the Crusaders ahead 10-7 as Army took a timeout. Holy Cross remained in the lead 16-13 thanks to a freshman Haley Gill ace. Army eventually deadlocked the set 16-16 and took a two point lead late before taking the first set.
• A Johnson ace made it 4-3 Holy Cross in the early going. The Crusaders stayed in the lead as Simmons notched an ace. Army scored eight straight to build up a 16-9 margin. Junior Abbie Lane put the Crusaders within six, however Army hung on for the set victory.
• An Army attack error tied up the set 4-4. The Black Knights led 8-5 thanks to a kill in the early going. A pair of Johnson kills kept the Crusaders behind by four, 13-9. Army eventually doubled up Holy Cross 22-11.

INSIDE THE BOX:

• Senior Halle Carter double-doubled for the second straight match with 14 assists and 11 digs.
• Johnson paced the Crusaders with 14 digs.
• Halstead has six or more digs in four straight matches.

• Holy Cross remains away from campus on Friday, Nov. 3 at American
