Men's ice hockey set to face Clarkson Saturday

The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team will host Clarkson University in their final non-conference matchup of the season at the Hart Center on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. The contest will be broadcasted regionally on NESN+ and through the NESN 360 app.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (5-13-1, 4-7-1 AHA):
  • The Crusaders fell to No. 2/3 Quinnipiac Friday, Dec. 30, 4-1. The Crusaders held the Bobcats scoreless for the first period, a feat that had only been achieved four times this season when teams matched up with the Bobcats.
  • Junior Jason Grande was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month after backstopping the Crusaders to a 2-1 month. Grande stopped 79 of 84 shots faced, giving him a 1.69 goals-against average and .940 save percentage over the three contests.
  • Junior Jack Ricketts leads the squad in all offensive categories, posting seven goals and six assists for 13 points. Grande holds a team-best 4-3 record, while sophomore Thomas Gale leads with a 2.77 goals against average and .898 save percentage.

SCOUTING CLARKSON (9-8-2, 3-3-2 ECAC):

  • Clarkson comes into the matchup 2-0-2 in their last four contests.
  • The Golden Knights received two votes in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey poll.
  • Against common opponents, Clarkson is 1-4-1, while Holy Cross is 1-5-0.
  • Mathieu Gosselin and Anthony Callin lead the team with eight goals each, while Ayrton Martino leads in assist (18) and points (22). Netminder Brady Parker holds a team-best 9-8-1 record, while Ethan Haider leads with a 1.23 goals against average and .952 save percentage.

LAST TIME THEY MET:

  • All time, the Crusaders are 1-2-0 against the Golden Knights.
  • In their last meeting on Oct. 20, 2018, Clarkson took the matchup 3-1 in Potsdam, N.Y.
  • The last time the Crusaders beat the Golden Knights was Oct. 20, 2012 when Holy Cross won 3-1, also at Cheel Arena
