EASTON, Pa. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Lafayette 2-0 at Oaks Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 3-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the Patriot League, while the Leopards improve to 5-2-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in the conference.
Lafayette opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Marcos Kitromilides headed the ball in from four yards out after a cross deflected off a Holy Cross defender. Then in the 54th minute, Eoin Martin headed home a Will Echeverria throw in from eight yards out to make the score 2-0.
The Leopards finished the game with an 11-1 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Josh Tubbs made two saves for the Crusaders, while Alex Sutton had one save for Lafayette.
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when it plays host to Northeastern at 6:00 p.m.
