WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell, 8-11, to Lafayette on Saturday, April 23 at Kuzniewski Field.
Junior attack Dean DiNanno led the day for the Crusaders (1-12, 0-7 PL) with two goals and three assists. Sophomore goaltender
Dawson Friers posted 13 saves on the day.
Christian Watts notched three goals and one assist to lead the Saints (5-8, 2-3 MAAC) to victory. Goaltender Chris Yanchoris also made 13 saves in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman midfielder Baker Reding scored the lone goal of the first quarter for the Crusaders with an assist from DiNanno.
- In the second quarter, the Crusaders held the Saints at bay only allowing one goal and notching two for themselves.
- Junior midfielder T.J. Lynch scored an impressive goal at 10:26 of the second quarter to bring the score to 2-5.
- Senior attack Will Spangenberg found the back of the net with an assist from DiNanno with 2:56 remaining in the quarter, making the score 3-6.
- During the third quarter, sophomore faceoff specialist Connor DePiero scored a goal straight off of a faceoff win.
- With 0:04 remaining in the third, DiNanno scored his first goal of the game to bring the total to 5-11.
- In the final quarter of play, the Crusaders held the Saints scoreless and made a valiant effort to come back with three consecutive goals.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- The Crusaders held the slight edge in faceoffs, 12-11.
- Senior defender Chris Conlin had four caused turnovers in the matchup.

- Holy Cross will return to Kuzniewski field to face Colgate on Friday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.
