Alexander Ruenhorst both won matches in singles and doubles action, but the Holy Cross men's tennis team was defeated by Merrimack 4-3 at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders fall to 2-10 on the season, while the Warriors improve to 6-9 overall.
Holy Cross opened the afternoon by sweeping the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1, O'Flynn and freshman
Diego Tran Rosado posted a 6-3 victory over Aryaan Bhatia and Jan Semerak. Sophomore
William Kelleher and sophomore
Connor Nelson followed with a 6-3 win over Keita Duclos and Jonathan Garcia at the No. 2 spot, while freshman
Jeremy Clark and Ruenhorst had a 6-2 victory over Conrad Koch and Henrik Lindeman at No. 3.
In singles action, Ruenhorst won his match at No. 4 over Andre Singer 6-1, 6-2, while O'Flynn posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Charles Robertson at No. 6. But Merrimack won the remaining four singles matches to pull out the overall victory.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, April 6, when they travel to Bryant for a 2:30 p.m. match.
