WORCESTER, Mass. – After securing a walkoff win in a pitchers' duel in Game 1, the Holy Cross baseball team surged back from a six-run deficit in Game 2 to walk off again and complete a doubleheader sweep over Bucknell on Saturday, April 16 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
Junior right-hander
Jack DiLauro secured a career-best 13 strikeouts and allowed just one run over six innings in the opening matchup, paving the way for freshman
Nick Wang to deliver a pinch-hit single that drove in freshman center fielder
Tyler Mudd for a 2-1 walkoff victory.
In the second contest, the Crusaders fell behind early, 6-0, and Bucknell maintained a commanding lead, holding a 10-4 edge after six and a half innings. Holy Cross clawed its way back, scoring seven runs over the final three frames – including three runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a game-winning base knock from freshman third baseman
Brendan Jones – to secure the 11-10 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- DiLauro and Bucknell starter Will Greer traded impressive performances early, shutting out the other side through the first three innings.
- The Bison got on the board first in the fourth inning, with a solo homer to center field by Sean Keys.
- The Crusaders answered right back, with senior first baseman Nate Wolf sending a solo shot to right field to even the score at one run apiece.
- Mudd hit a one-out bunt single in the bottom of the seventh, and stole second; Wang stepped up to the plate in a pinch-hit opportunity and singled through the left side, scoring Mudd and securing the 2-1 win.

- After the Bison jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, the Crusaders began to chip away at the deficit, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third. Freshman right fielder Connor Cooney drove in a run with a single through the right side, and Wolf then delivered a two-run single to left field.
- Bucknell answered right back, tacking on three runs in the top of the fourth.
- Freshman second baseman Connor Peek hit a solo home run – his first collegiate homer – to bring Holy Cross within 9-4.
- The Bison scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to take a 10-4 lead.
- Cooney hit another RBI single in the seventh inning to make it a 10-5 game.
- The Crusaders scored three runs in the eighth inning, using four straight singles to cut within 10-8.
- Peek delivered a two-run single with one out in the ninth to even the score at 10-10, and Jones followed with a double to score Peek and give the Crusaders an 11-10 win.
- The Crusaders and Bison round out the weekend series on Sunday, April 17.
- First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
