Women’s lacrosse downed by American

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Jolie Creo and junior Jenna Giardina both scored two goals, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by American 19-7 at the Jacobs Complex. The Crusaders fall to 3-6 on the season and 0-2 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles improve to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The game was close early on, and Holy Cross held a 3-2 lead with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter. American then outscored the Crusaders 7-1 over the rest of the first half to take a 9-4 advantage heading into the locker room. The Eagles would open the third quarter by scoring the next five goals to increase the margin to 10 (14-4), and would lead by at least eight for the remainder of the day.

Sophomore Lauren Drillock, junior Sara McKenna and sophomore Brynne Menen all scored goals for Holy Cross, while senior Jordyn Arakelian recorded her team-leading 15th assist of the year. Maddy Spratt led American with four goals and two assists.

The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, March 30, when they play host to Boston University at 6:00 p.m.
