Men's lacrosse falls to Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell, 14-8, to the US Naval Academy on Saturday, March 26 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Junior midfielder T.J. Lynch led the day for the Crusaders (0-8, 0-4 PL) with two goals and one assist. Sophomore goaltender Dawson Friers made 12 saves on the day.

Henry Tolker scored four goals for the Midshipmen (6-3, 2-1 PL). Goaltender Pat Ryan made 10 saves in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lynch began the day for the Crusaders with a goal from junior midfielder Connor Boyle with 2:47 remaining in the first quarter, tieing the score up at 1-1.
  • Lynch also scored the second Holy Cross goal of the day at 5:04 of the second period, bringing the score to 3-2.
  • With 1:44 remaining in the first half, junior attack Jayce Lambert scored an unassisted goal to bring the team's total to three.
  • Only 17 seconds later, with 1:27 remaining in the half, junior attack Thomas McIntire fired a shot past Ryan with an assist from freshmen midfielder Matt Carbonell.
  • Junior attack Dean DiNanno scored a goal from McIntire at 8:05 of the third quarter, bringing the score to 8-5.
  • Senior midfielder Cameron Magalotti found the back of the net with an assist from freshman midfielder Baker Reding with 3:12 remaining in the third.
  • Baker Reding then went on to score his first career collegiate goal with an assist from sophomore attack Cole Kratovil to make the score 7-11.
  • Senior attack Will Spangenberg scored the final goal of the day on a man-up opportunity with an assist from Lynch.
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Senior defenseman Chris Conlin had yet another successful day on defense with four caused turnovers and six ground balls in the contest.
  • The Midshipmen held the edge in faceoffs during the game, 15-11.
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will return home for a contest against Loyola Maryland on Saturday, April 2 at noon.
