Men's lacrosse falls to Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell, 17-7, to Lehigh on Sunday, March 13 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Junior attack Dean DiNanno led the day for the Crusaders (0-6, 0-2 PL) with three goals and one assist. Sophomore goaltender Dawson Friers made 14 saves in the contest.

Christian Mule' scored five goals and recorded one assist to lead the Mountain Hawks (3-2, 2-0 PL) to victory. Goaltenders James Spence and Caleb Creasor made four and three saves on the day, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After the Mountain Hawks held the Crusaders scoreless during the first period, junior midfielder T.J. Lynch began the second quarter with a goal from junior midfielder Connor Boyle to bring the score to 4-1, Lehigh.
  • After Lehigh tacked on another pair, Lynch recorded his second goal of the day to make it 6-2 in favor of Lehigh.
  • With 6:42 and 5:46 remaining in the second quarter, DiNanno scored two unassisted goals to make the score 8-4, Mountain Hawks.
  • After another pair of Mountain Hawk goals, DiNanno earned his third goal of the game with an assist from senior defenseman Chris Conlin, narrowing Lehigh's lead to 10-5.
  • Junior attack Thomas McIntire scored his first goal of the season with an assist from DiNanno to end a four-goal scoring streak for Lehigh with 2:23 remaining in the third quarter.
  • To open the fourth, McIntire netted another goal with an assist from sophomore attack Matt Major, bringing the score to 15-7, Lehigh.
  • Lehigh finished the game with two more goals for a final score of 17-7.
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • DiNanno tied for the most in shots on goal for both teams with nine in total. 
  • The Mountain Hawks held the slight edge in caused turnovers, 11-10.
  • McIntire scored his first two goals of the season in the second half of play.
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will return home to face Boston University on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m.
