CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior
Jolie Creo recorded her second hat trick of the season with three goals and one assist, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Harvard 13-7 at Jordan Field. The Crusaders fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Crimson improve to 1-1 overall.
Harvard started the game hot, jumping out to a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Crimson would increase their advantage to 9-2 in the second quarter, before a goal by senior
Finley Cassidy made the score 9-3 at halftime.
Holy Cross opened the third quarter with goals by junior
Charlotte Wittstock and senior
Jordyn Arakelian to cut the deficit to 9-5. But Harvard netted the net four goals to go in front by eight (13-5) midway through the fourth quarter. Creo scored a pair of quick goals to make the score 13-7 with 5:35 left to play, but neither team would score again as the Crimson held on for the win.
Wittstock finished the game with a career-high two goals, while senior
Grace Flink made eight saves in goal. Meredith Langmuir and GinaMarie Ricciotti led Harvard with three goals each.
Holy Cross will return to action on Tuesday, March 1, when it plays host to Brown at 5:00 p.m.
