ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team finished in ninth place at the 2022 Patriot League Championships hosted by the United States Naval Academy from Wednesday to Saturday.
The Crusaders recorded 118 total points. Navy ended up winning their 18th straight conference title with 874 points. Army West Point (740.50) placed second and Bucknell (559.50) rounded out the top three.
As a team, Holy Cross had a total of 10 program records broken during the championships this week.
Freshman
Patrick Walsh shattered two of his own records, first in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 9:33.03. He also participated in the 1,650-yard freestyle and had a top-10 finish placing ninth out of 23 competitors with a new program-best, 15:46.40 mark. Freshman
Luca Moscetti (16:19.87) and sophomore
Hunter Sullivan (16:41.02) also took part in the event.
Sophomore
Charlie Nascimben manufactured a 2:03.85 in the 200-yard breaststroke event. His time in the preliminary round (2:03.85) set a new program record bettering Brian Power's mark during the 2013 championship.
Freshman
Rory Hess came in 13th in the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.18). Hess established a new highwater mark for the team, the previous record was 1:50.71 by Steve Tierney.
The 400-yard freestyle relay race was run by

Ben Vesey, and Walsh at 3:07.74, also another school record.
