NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team fell short against Merrimack, 3-1, at Lawler Rink on Friday, Feb. 18.
Junior
Darci Johal scored her 10
th goal of the season to pace Holy Cross (3-28-0, 1-25-0 Hockey East). Senior goaltender
Jada Brenon made 23 saves on the afternoon.
Merrimack (6-24-1, 5-20-1 Hockey East) was led by a two-goal showing from Teghan Inglis.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Merrimack struck first in the contest, with Inglis scoring at 14:40 of the first.
- The Crusaders evened things up at 8:58 of the third period off of Johal's goal.
- Merrimack immediately responded just over a minute later, with Hannah Corneliusen breaking the deadlock at 10:08 of the third.
- Inglis notched an empty-netter with 34 seconds remaining to secure the 3-1 victory for the Warriors.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Brenon's 23 saves gave her exactly 3,000 for her career; she is one of three active goaltenders in Division I women's ice hockey to hit the milestone.
- Johal is the first Crusader to record double-digit goals in the Hockey East era.
