WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team fell short in a 3-2 overtime result against Merrimack on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Hart Center Rink.

Bryn Saarela each had a goal for the Crusaders (3-29, 1-26 Hockey East). Senior goaltender
Jada Brenon made 36 saves.
Goaltender Emma Gorski made 27 saves for Merrimack (7-24-1, 6-20-1 Hockey East), while Julia MacLean had a goal and assist for a two-point day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Merrimack opened the scoring at 7:57 of the first.
- That lead was short-lived, as Johal's goal at 10:30 of the opening frame tied things up at 1-1.
- The Warriors briefly regained the lead at 9:01 of the second, but again, the Crusaders quickly responded with a goal from Bryn Saarela at 10:16 of the second to even the score at 2-2.
- The Crusaders ended the third period with a flurry of shot attempts on a power-play opportunity, but were unable to convert.
- MacLean scored the game-winning goal just 1:33 into the overtime frame.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Johal has scored a goal in each of her last four games and five in the last six games.
- Prior to the game, the Crusaders recognized their six-member senior class as part of Senior Day. The senior class includes Brenon, captain Bailey Bennett, forward Sommer Ross, defenseman Emma Lange, captain Carlie Magier and goaltender Sarah Street.
