The Holy Cross men's basketball team will be back at home this week, playing host to American at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14. The game between the Crusaders and the Eagles will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross has won five out of its last six games, including victories over Loyola (68-64) and Bucknell (78-72) in its last two contests. The Crusaders are now tied for fourth place in the Patriot League at 6-6, while standing 8-16 overall. Holy Cross currently leads the conference in blocked shots (3.9 blocks per game), while standing fourth in steals (6.4 steals per game) and turnover margin (+0.1 turnovers per game).
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 15.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while hitting 71.0 percent of his foul shots. Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has also been playing well, with averages of 13.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Bo Montgomery has averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 boards per game.
American currently has an overall record of 6-18 on the season, including a 2-10 mark in the Patriot League. The Eagles have lost eight of their last nine games and are coming off an 85-67 setback at Boston University on Saturday. Senior guard Stacy Beckton has led the team by averaging 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, while hitting 76.1 percent of his free throws. Sophomore guard Colin Smalls has added 10.1 points and 2.4 boards per contest, with sophomore forward Matt Rogers chipping in 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
After the game with American, Holy Cross will remain at home to face Boston University on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
