DURHAM, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team came up short against the University of New Hampshire on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Whittemore Center.
Junior right wing
Darci Johal scored for the Crusaders (3-26-0, 1-23-0 Hockey East), while senior goaltender
Jada Brenon stopped 27 shots.
Brooke Hammer had a two-goal night for the Wildcats (10-17-2, 8-13-1 Hockey East).
Holy Cross outshot New Hampshire by a 38-29 margin, but goaltender Nicky Harnett's 37-save evening stymied the Crusaders.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Johal put Holy Cross on the board with a power-play tally at 18:03 of the first period, giving the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage through one period.
- UNH evened things up at the 3:48 mark of the second after Brooke Hammer scored.
- The deadlock held until 7:25 into the third, when Hammer notched her second goal of the night.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Friday's contest was senior captain Carlie Magier's 100th career game.
- Johal extended her team-leading goal total to eight on the season.
